Fee & College Information
Fees and Administration Charge
To be eligible for published costs and access to public funding on our adult courses, learners must be aged 19 or over by the 31st August in the academic year in which their course is starting. Where this is not the case, additional charges may need to be applied.
Concessionary Fees
You may be entitled to concessions on some courses if you are in receipt of work related benefits or earning a low wage, at the time the course starts. This is subject to you producing the required evidence at the point of enrolling, and the College reserves the right to confirm this is still active when the course starts.
16-18 Year Old Learners' Fee
Our courses are funded for 19+ only through the Education and Skills Funding Agency or the Greater London Authority. As such, learners aged 16-18 years old may be required to pay an enhanced fee. To be eligible for published costs and access to public funding on our adult courses, learners must be aged 19 or over by the 31st August in the academic year in which their course is starting. Where this is not the case, additional charges may need to be applied.
60+ Reduced Fees
To be eligible for the 60+ reduced fee you will need to produce evidence of your age. Not all courses are automatically eligible for 60+ fees, so please check the fee section on a course-by-course basis.
Free Courses
In order to undertake free courses at Havering Adult College, you need to be eligible for GLA or ESFA funding and reside within a postcode relative to these funding schemes. This will be checked upon enrolment. If you do not meet these requirements you will not be eligible to access free training with us, and will be required to pay a course fee.
International Fee
If you have not lived in the UK for more than three years the cost of the course may vary depending on your circumstances. These fees are not included in the prospectus; please speak to the Centre Support Team for more information.
Additional Resources
You may be required to provide your own resources for some courses. We provide the information on resources to all enrolled learners before the start of the course.
Instalments
Instalments are available on courses with fees of £150 and over. A 10% surcharge applies when choosing this option. If you withdraw from a course before you have completed, you will be liable to pay the full remaining fee amount owed. Havering Adult College reserves the right to cease assessing learners’ work in the event they default in their payments until the outstanding balance is paid.
19+ Advanced Learner Loans
If you are enrolling on a full Level 3, 4 or 5 course (not a unit or award) and you are 19 years old or over, you may be eligible for a loan from the Student Loans Company. Please remember, if you withdraw from a course before you have completed, you will become immediately liable to pay the remaining fee amount owed to the College, as well as anything owed on the loan to the Student Loans Company.
Examination Fees
The College subsidises the examination and assessment fees by contributing towards the cost.
Assessment Re-sit Fees
If it is necessary for you to resit all or part of your exam, you will be required to pay for this, as your fees only cover your first attempt. This is also the case if you are unable to attend your assessment date. Assessment dates are shared at the beginning of the course, we will expect you to make the necessary arrangement to attend. Assessment fees vary depending on the course, please ask our Centre Support Team if you require more information.
Withdrawing from your course - Outstanding Debts
If you withdraw from your course early, the full fee still applies. If you pay by instalments or loan, the balance is still owed to the College and becomes payable immediately. We cannot provide refunds. If you paid no fees due to benefit or low wage status, the College will lose funding covering your place from that point and reserves the right to invoice you for the balance of course fees. You must ensure you have read our Terms and Conditions before finalising your enrolment. It is your responsibility to ensure that your fees are paid in full and on time. The College will pursue all outstanding debts. This will include any resources you have received but have not yet paid for. Please be aware that this could result in a County Court Judgement (CCJ) against you, and it may affect your credit rating for six years.
Refunds
There is no automatic entitlement to a refund. If your circumstances change beyond your control, the College may offer you a credit note at the discretion of the management.
Where the College has unavoidably cancelled or closed your course, you will be offered a suitable alternative or a refund will be given.
