Online Learning

Different Ways to Study

At Havering Adult College, we know that everyone learns in different ways. That’s why, in addition to regular classes, we also have online courses where you can learn from home and at our centres using different methods.

Below, we’ve listed the online learning options you can choose from. You can find out more about the courses by clicking on the dropdown box.

Online Live Courses

These courses are delivered just like in a classroom but online with a live teacher via Zoom.

Online Live-Hybrid Courses

These types of courses are delivered mostly online using Zoom with occasional face to face classes at one of our sites. Your teacher will tell you the dates and times you will be required to attend the face to face sessions.

Self Study

As there are no dedicated class days and times, you are free to study on a day and time that suits you. You will be using The Learning Curve online learning platform to carry out your studies and will not have contact with a teacher at any point.

You will be required to submit your work as instructed on the platform. This is then marked and sent back to you with written feedback of your work.

Online Blended Courses

As with the Self Study method there are no dedicated class days and times, you are free to study on a day and time that suits you using the Learning Curve online platform. Additionally, you will be required to meet with your tutor on a fornightly basis to discuss your progress and get any guidance you require.

Class-Based E-Learning Courses

Just like traditional classroom-based courses you will be required to attend one of our centres on the required day and time for your class.

This type of courses allows you to work individually, at your own pace and on the topics you want to learn. Your classes will be facilitated by a teacher and you will be working online using specific e-learning resources tailored to your topics.

You will have web access to your e-learning resources so you can log in from home to continue your learning – like self study or go over what you had learned in class.
