British Values

What is British Values? How does it affect me?

“British values” are a set of principles and beliefs that are considered to be fundamental to the British way of life and to the functioning of British society. These values are seen as essential to maintaining a stable and cohesive society, and are often emphasised in education, politics, and public discourse in the UK.

Democracy

The belief in the importance of democratic processes, including free and fair elections, the rule of law, and individual freedom.

Rule of Law

The principle that everyone, including those in positions of authority, is subject to the law, and that the law must be applied impartially and without bias.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance

The belief in the importance of treating others with respect, regardless of their background, beliefs or opinions, and the acceptance of differences between people.

Individual Liberty

The belief in the importance of individual freedom and the right to make choices without interference, as long as they do not harm others.
